3. Once we receive your jewelry, we carry out a careful assessment to ensure it is ready for replating. It is then sent to one of our factories, where it is cleaned, polished, and replated with a new layer of 18K gold.

Frequently asked questions

Replating means that your jewelry is given a fresh layer of 18K gold to restore its original color and shine. Over time and with regular wear, it’s completely natural for the plating to fade and gradually wear off.

We want your jewelry to last and remain part of your everyday style. That’s why we offer replating, so your favorite pieces can be worn and loved for years to come.

The color will match Syster P’s signature 18K gold tone, giving your jewelry the same look as the original. We use fixed plating thicknesses: necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are plated with 1 micron of gold. While rings, since they are exposed to more wear, are plated with 2 microns for added durability.

No, replating does not change the size or fit of your jewelry. It simply adds a thin layer of gold to the surface without affecting its shape or dimensions.

Yes, we can replate jewelry with both stones and pearls. Each piece is handled with great care throughout the entire process.

Before replating, your jewelry is carefully cleaned and gently polished. This helps remove dirt and reduce the appearance of minor scratches. However, deeper marks and signs of wear from previous use may still remain after replating.

How long the plating lasts depends on how you wear and care for your jewelry. With gentle use, it can last for several years. To help extend its lifespan, we recommend avoiding contact with perfumes and harsh chemicals, and minimizing friction against other metals or hard surfaces.

The standard turnaround time for replating and return is 4–6 weeks. If it takes longer, we will reach out and keep you updated.

You can easily send your jewelry to us by post, just follow our instructions for a smooth and secure process. We recommend choosing a tracked and insured shipping option, as you are responsible for the item while it is in transit to us.

You are also very welcome to drop off your jewelry in person at our store at Stureplan 19 or at our head office at Döbelnsgatan 40 in Stockholm.

If you can’t find your jewelry on our website, feel free to contact us at info@systerp.se. We’ll help you identify the piece and guide you to the right solution.

If you choose the wrong option, we’ll of course help you sort it out. We can either adjust your order and refund the difference or cancel it so you can place a new one.

Before replating, we always carefully assess your jewelry. If it is too damaged or worn to be replated, we will contact you and guide you on the next steps.
